**** UPDATE****** All of my cats bloodwork has come back. It appears her kidney issues was related to something toxic that she ate. Had the Doctor at Conn Vet Center actually examined my cat and did bloodwork, we may have know this diagnosis a day earlier. Had I listened to the Doctor at Conn Vet Center and gave my cat the meds they prescribed, shed be dead. Sorry Doctor, it wasnt and upset stomach. What is the purpose of having a 24hr Emergency Center, if your Vets cant provide the Emergency Medical Attention an animal needs. ***WARNING**** WARNING****** WARNING I went to Conn Veterinary Center on 1/2/2019 for emergency care for my cat ( Patient ID # 1164315). It was mid evening. I met with the staff ( I will leave their names out) and informed them that my cat wasnt acting normal, she was just laying their, and was very withdrawn. I further explained to them that we did switch her food the day prior and she does has a sensitive s stomach. We also came in to the center a few years back for an issue with her stomach. I explained to them that she is very anxious at the vet, is extremely difficult and Id like her sedated before the exam for her anxiety and so they could handle her easier. After explaining to the Dr her history, he walked out of the room for a few minutes and returned. He explained to me that it seems like a issue with her stomach and prescribe Cyproheptadine 4 mg tablets to be given to her in half doses, for the next 4 days. I asked if any exam was given the Dr replied No because the cat is very aggressive and it wouldnt be good to sedate the cat because complcations could arise from the sedation. Has this place ever heard of a shot of Gabapentin? I explained that I could help them with the shot, because she would let me do it. The Dr explained to me that from the syptoms I told him and her past history, it probably was just an upset GI tract from the switch in the food. We had no exam, no blood work, and the cat never came out of her carrier. When we got home, I gave the cat her medicine and did what the Dr told me. The next morning 1/3/19 I woke up and my cat was in a worse condition. She was taken to an Emergency Center in Middletown CT and was in horrible shape. Her bloodwork at the Emergency Center in Middletown showed her kidney numbers were in bad shape and her kidneys could be failing. She was very sick. She was admitted to the hospital and just came home on 1/5/19.. Conn Veternary gave my cat no exam, no bloodwork and sent us on our way with a prescription of cyproheptadine. They were either not prepared to deal with an extremely anxious cat, or were to incompetent. If I had listened to them and followed their instructions, my cat would have died. If I didnt act on my gut feeling and take my cat somewhere else, shed be dead. I will never do business with this place again. Well, this was my experience with Conn Vetenary
Stay away from this place.This place needs to be closed...I'm forced to provide 1 star because there is no zero star option. This is what unfortunately happened to me. One night I took my male teacup there as he was suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. They whisked my dog Leo to the back, out of my vision, and when one of the vet's assistants reappeared, I asked how he was. He replied that they need to run tests. I asked how much it would come to and he answered $400. I asked what kind of tests and he was unsure (first red flag). I asked how much my TEACUP weighed and he said, "Let me go and check - I'll be right back." When he came back, he said, "26lbs!" I was stumped at this point and reminded him that Leo is a teacup Yorkie. I noticed that he smelled of marijuana - as if he had just finished smoking a joint. I asked again about the weight and he reiterated the same weight as previously mentioned above, that is 26lbs! I then said, "This breed only weighs around maximum 3 lbs." I was pretty upset at this point at the obvious lack of knowledge, care, understanding, concern or even for that matter, common sense.The vet that night was Dr. Jacquelyn Kubis-Luchina. This 'vet' is not a vet but more concerned with $$$ than animal welfare. A rather unscrupulous lady, adding extra charges for no apparent reason. An extremely, unprofessional person!If you don't want to end up in debt and lose your beloved pet: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE CLOSED ONCE AND FOR ALL.!
WARNING. Do not pay attention to the positive reviews. If you love your pets stay far far away. They told us that we had no option but to put the cat down or do an emergency kidney transplant for 5000. We ended up signing her out and leaving, we received NO medical care. The woman informed us that they regularly kill animals because owners can't afford to have them "treated appropriately" while we were signing the cat out.( which by the way, they hold your pets hostage and do not allow you to even see them until you give them some kind of payment, whether they rendered services at all.) Several weeks after we had left they persisted on calling and threatening my partner almost daily with legal action and violence until she paid them. For the "Diagnosis" that entailed telling us to kill our pet. They are sick, sick people that work here. They do not care about your pets at all. My cat is on an adjusted diet now and doing just fine.
Great caring people. We have been bringing our pets here for many years. The staff and drs are very patient and understanding. We consider our pets family. We are appreciative of their gentle touch.
great vet. Old building but the Doctors, and staff are great in this place. Most people who gave negative reviews here are not realistic on their expectations, and don't want to pay for the quality ER pet care service they receive. I am coming here for years with my pets. the staff, veterinarians are compassionate, they provided me cost estimates for every procedure prior to, and requested my consent before doing any procedures. I have pet insurance, to pay for my unexpected ER visits and care credit to help in emergency situation.
